Privacy Policy
What Home Plate collects, why, and who else sees it. Your account and household are shared with Game Plan, our other app, which has its own policy.
Last updated 22 September 2026
The short version.
We collect what the app needs to plan and log meals for your household, and nothing for advertising. We use product analytics to see which parts of the app people actually use, and nothing else. There is no advertising SDK, no cross-app tracking and no advertising identifier. We don't sell your data or share it with data brokers. You can delete your account from inside the app.
Who we are
Home Plate is made by nevu, who also make Game Plan. If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights below, email contact@nevuapp.com.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in with an email address and password, a phone number, Sign in with Apple, or a Google account. We store whichever identifier you used. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, we only ever see Apple's relay address.
Your profile and your household
- Your display name and the colour you pick.
- Your daily calorie and macro targets, and which direction you're trying to move your weight.
- Food preferences you type in.
- Allergies and dietary conditions, and any supplements you add.
Height, weight, age and sex are used on your device to calculate your targets. Only the resulting numbers are saved. We never store those inputs.
What you log
The meals you record, when you recorded them, portion sizes, photos you take of a meal, barcodes you scan, and anything you dictate or type to describe a meal. From that we derive which days met your goal and your logging streak.
What you and your household say to each other
Reactions and short notes left on each other's meals, and nudges sent between members.
Feedback
If you answer the in-app question about how the app is working, we store your answer, anything you type, your app version and your streak at the time.
Your device
A push notification token and your device's time zone, so notifications reach you and arrive on the right day. We do not collect your location, an advertising identifier, or any tracking identifier.
How you use the app
We record what happens as you use Home Plate so we can tell which parts work and which don't: the onboarding steps you reach, which screens you open, when a meal is logged and how you logged it, when a plan is generated, reactions and nudges sent, streak milestones, whether you tapped a notification, and when something fails. Each of these carries your account identifier, the app version, and how many people are in your household.
It is about the app, not about you. We don't record what you ate, what you wrote, or anything from your profile as part of this. We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, which is why the app never asks for permission to track you.
Everyone in your household can see your household data.
That's the point of the app. The people in your household can see what you logged, your allergies and preferences, your targets and your streak. Add someone to your household only if you're happy for them to see all of it.
Permissions we ask for
- Camera — to photograph a meal or scan a barcode.
- Microphone and speech recognition — to let you describe a meal out loud. Recognition happens on your device where your device supports it; otherwise Apple processes the audio.
- Notifications — to tell you about your household's activity and your streak.
We never ask for your location or for permission to track you across other apps.
Who else sees your data
We use a small number of providers to run the apps. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What reaches them | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Everything described above | Our database, sign-in and server functions |
| Anthropic | Meal descriptions you type or dictate, meal photos, plus the first names, allergies, preferences and macro targets of the people a plan is being built for | Generating meal plans, reading a meal photo, and understanding what you described |
| OpenAI | Text descriptions of dishes. No photos of yours and no names | Generating the illustrations on meal cards |
| Apple | Your push token and the text of each notification, which can include a household member's first name. Dictated audio, where your device can't recognise it locally | Delivering notifications, Sign in with Apple, speech recognition |
| PostHog | The usage events described above, with your account identifier | Product analytics — seeing which parts of the app are used |
| Your sign-in, if you choose Google | Signing you in | |
| Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central | The barcode or food name being looked up, and the network address the request comes from | Looking up nutrition for packaged foods |
Meal photos you take are sent for analysis and are not stored by us. Photos you take through the store-capture tool are stored and are reachable by anyone who has the link.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of someone using the apps.
Where your data is held
Our providers store and process data on servers in the United States and, in the case of Open Food Facts, in France. If you use the apps from outside those countries, your data is transferred there.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. Delete your account and we delete it, with two exceptions described below.
Deleting your account
Open the app, go to Profile, and choose Delete Account. This removes your account and your personal data immediately. If you are the only member of your household, the whole household goes with it, including its meals, plans and grocery lists. If other people remain in the household, their shared data stays and your own is removed.
Two things do not go:
- Feedback you submitted stays, with the link to you removed, so we can still act on what it said.
- Photos uploaded through the store-capture tool remain in our image library.
Anything you asked an AI provider to process in the past is subject to that provider's own retention, which we can't reach into.
Children
The apps are not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. An adult can add a child as a profile in their household. When they do, the adult is providing that information, and it is the adult's responsibility to have the right to do so. Email us and we'll remove any profile on request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy. Most of it is visible and editable inside the app, and deletion is one tap in Profile. For anything else, email contact@nevuapp.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting provider. Access to household data is restricted to members of that household by rules enforced on the server, not just in the app. No system is perfect, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we'll tell you in the app.
